Formed in 1989, Law Offices of James J. Phillips changed its corporate name to Phillips & Phillips, A Professional Corporation, in January 2018, when Jim’s daughter, Katelyn, joined the firm.

Katelyn joined the firm in January 2018, after working as an associate attorney at Jones Day in San Francisco. During law school, Katelyn participated in the Medical-Legal Partnership for Seniors Clinic, where she worked with low-income patients at the UCSF Geriatric Center to prepare long-term care and estate planning documents. She also served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Richard Seeborg at the U.S. District Court, Northern District of California. Prior to attending law school, Katelyn taught 8th grade Language Arts in Denver, Colorado, through Teach For America. Like her father, Jim, she is a Castro Valley native.

Donna has over 17 years of experience as the probate examiner in Alameda County, three years as a senior probate and trust administration paralegal with the firm of Hanson, Bridgett, Marcus, Vlahos and Rudy, LLP in San Francisco, and as the senior paralegal with our firm since November of 2003.
She is a graduate from Ohlone College in Fremont, obtained her paralegal certificate from St. Mary's College in Moraga in 1982, has taken numerous continuing legal education classes in probate, trust administration and tax matters, and has spoken at CJER's Continuing Judicial Studies Program and the Legal Secretaries, Incorporated Quarterly Conference.
Mary Beth is a graduate from California State University Hayward and earned a paralegal certificate from St. Mary's College in Moraga in 1989. She was a paralegal with the law firm of Fitzgerald, Abbott & Beardsley, LLP in Oakland for fourteen years before joining our firm in 2008 in Pleasanton in May 2008. Mary Beth has taken various continuing education courses from CEB, Alameda County Bar Association, Estate Planning Group, San Francisco Paralegal Association and the Alameda County Legal Secretaries Association.
Lisa is a graduate from California State University Sacramento. Lisa spent 25 years working in the pharmaceutical industry before joining our firm as the administrative assistant in 2014.
